You need to be 18 to volunteer in one of COTS’ shelters, but there are many ways kids can help people get back into housing!
Pre-School
-
- Write cards or draw pictures for our residents
- Collect canned food for our kitchen
Elementary School
All of the above PLUS
-
- Raise money for COTS through a bake sale, a carnival, a concert, a tournament or a play you put on
- Save part of your allowance to give to COTS
- Ask for donations to COTS instead of some birthday presents
- Collect new socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant and snacks; put them in bags with drawings or notes. You and an adult can drop them off at our Mary Isaak Center
- Donate new school supplies
- Write a letter to the editor expressing your concern that some people have no homes; tell people what you’re doing to help and ask them to take action, too.
High School
All of the above PLUS
-
- Raise money through social media fundraisers or a campaign you can start on COTS’ website
- Raise awareness among other students through discussions and presentations
